Short version: Useful Vanity is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through links on this site, at no additional cost to you. Commissions do not affect our product assessments or the order we place products in a guide.
What is an affiliate link?
Some links on Useful Vanity — usually a "Check price" button or a product name — carry a small tracking identifier that tells Amazon you came from our site. If you go on to buy something within the session window, Amazon pays us a percentage of the sale. The price you pay on Amazon is exactly the same with or without that identifier.
Which programmes we belong to
- Amazon Associates (Amazon Australia) — the primary affiliate programme on this site.
- Any future affiliate relationships will be listed here before the first link goes live.
Where the disclosure appears
Amazon Associates Operating Programme requires that the disclosure be clear and conspicuous, and placed near the affiliate links. You'll find it in three places:
- Near the top of every guide that contains affiliate links.
- Immediately before product CTAs inside each guide.
- On this page, linked from every footer and about page.
What commission does not buy
- A higher position in a guide's ranking.
- A more positive description than the product warrants.
- Inclusion of a product we wouldn't otherwise recommend.
- Omission of a real negative or trade-off.
Where we do cover a product mainly because it earns a good commission, that would defeat the purpose of the site. If a product is included, it's because it met the guide's criteria and is available to buy in Australia.
How the site is funded
Affiliate commissions are the site's only current revenue source. We do not accept payment for reviews, sponsored placements, gifted product features or advertising on the guide pages. If that ever changes, this page will be updated before any new arrangement goes live.
Amazon Associates statement
"As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases." This site uses an Amazon Associates tracking tag on every Amazon product link, which is how Amazon identifies Useful Vanity as the referring publisher.
