About Useful Vanity

Practical product research for beauty buyers in Australia — no hype, no fake reviews, no paid placements.

Why this site exists

Shopping for your routine shouldn't require a research project. Most product round-ups either repeat marketing copy or hide who actually paid for the placement. Useful Vanity exists to give Australian shoppers a straight answer: here are the options that make sense for a given budget, routine or hair type, and here's the reasoning behind each pick.

How we build a guide

Every guide follows the same research-based process. We start by mapping the Amazon Australia category so we understand what's actually available to buy in this market — then we compare specifications, warranty terms, delivery conditions and the recurring themes in verified buyer feedback. Where we can't confirm a claim, we say so inside the guide rather than repeat it.

Read more on the research process and the editorial standards every guide has to meet before it goes live.

What we are not

  • Not a "we tested it" publication. Unless a guide explicitly says otherwise, we have not physically handled the products. We describe what's verifiable and stay honest about what isn't.
  • Not a pay-to-play list. Retailers, brands and affiliate networks cannot buy their way into a guide, a ranking or a higher position. If a product earns a commission, that's shown in the affiliate disclosure.
  • Not a global site with prices converted. We only recommend products that are actually available through Australian retailers, with AU warranty support, delivery conditions and plug/voltage compatibility where the product uses one.

How the site makes money

Useful Vanity participates in the Amazon Associates program. When you click a "Check price" or product link and complete a qualifying purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Commissions do not influence which products appear or where they rank — you can read the full affiliate disclosure for details.

Corrections and feedback

If something in a guide is out of date or you spot a factual error, please let us know. Every report goes through our corrections policy and, where a change is material, we note it on the article.
